I'm looking at building a 2 node storage spaces direct cluster and have two options when it comes to storage. I can either use 3 1TB 850evo drives plus a boot drive or 2 1tb 960evo NVMe drives plus a boot drive. Storage space isn't terribly important, 2 drives in each node should net me 2TB useable with the NVMe drives which is plenty. My question is can I use two of Samsungs new 960evo drives in PCIe converters with this motherboard:
Supermicro | Products | Motherboards | Xeon® Boards | X10SRM-F
It has an onboard slot but it's only pcie 2.0 so I would prefer to put both NVMe drives into the x8 slots... The manual mentions something about one of the slots being available for NVMe, not sure if that's the case but if it is would the second drive not work?
I apologize if this is in the wrong place.
Thanks!
