Would these work with Mellanox ConnectX2 cards? (Even if just for a single channel.)

A SFP+ one? likely, they are not picky.
QSFP? No, thats not supported.

And I'd liked to get on but too expensive shipping;)

I’ve used cables like these to connect my dual port QSFP ConnectX2 cards to switch SFP+ ports using the first channel. You end up with a lot of extra cable just hanging around, but it’s a lot cheaper than buying an adapter and a regular SFP+ DAC cable.

So the first channel works and only the splitting does not? Now thats interesting ! Thanks

It's replaced by 100gbe and qsfp28 infrastructure. There are new breakout cables like 100gbe to 4x 25gbe or 100gbe to 2x 50gbe.
Yes, it's cisco quality.

My interpretation of his statement was that he is just using the first channel. I dont think he means he rest don't work.

True but it makes sense the way I read it (I think).
On a MLX switch the first channel of a 4:1 split cable works as well without configuring the QSFP port as split port. The MLX Card does not support 4:1 split at all (none of the connectx does afaik). So I assume that the relevant sfp+ pins (probably the first bunch) are simply patched through on the qsfp cable.
Mind thats pure guesswork;)
