Frankly I could have posted this in storage or networking, and possibly deals (but I don't think it's a bargain).

I wonder if it requires bifurcation or not? Could be really useful for boards with m2 but no slots.

From what little I can see of the PCB traces in those pictures it looks like the M.2 signal lines end up at a chip, not the PCIe connector, and since it is pretty rare to find a system that can bifurcate an x4 slot into 3 devices, I imagine that this card does have a PCIe switch onboard.

This would be nice for a Thunderbolt enclosure since it's only x4. Combined with something like a Mercury Helios 3S you'd get a dock with 85W charging, two M.2 slots, 10Gbe, DisplayPort, and USB-C. You're probably a bit bottlenecked right now but less so in a Thunderbolt 5 enclosure.
