Been trying to find out which LOM riser NIC I can use for my Dell R440 servers. Called Dell and they insisted I sign up with Dell Small Business
Navigating Dell's manual maze is ... interesting. Here's the relevant link I could find on the LOM riser: Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 Installation and Service Manual | Dell US
The technical specifications claim one can install an OCP card aka the LOM riser but checking the service tag for my servers does not reveal anything 10Gb+ for the LOM slot. After much hunting it seems the only validated NICs are the Broadcom 1/10/25 NICs. The only card I could find that said R440 support was the CF4P0 - it's a 2 x 10Gb SFP NIC. I would prefer an Intel NIC if possible hence looking to see what other options are out there
The manual doesn't state card specs, I am guessing it's OCP 2.0 Connector A (since it is a single connector with PCIe 3.0 x8).
Intel apparently makes X520DA2OCPG2P20 and X710-DA2 OCP adapters that appear to be OCP 2.0 with standard height for the heatsink - but I cannot see any compatibility with the R440
Has anyone used a X520 or X710 OCP NIC with the R440s? If so, what was the part number?
