I made a post over on Reddit about my new cluster setup, but figured I'd post it here as well, since it is very specific to this thread.
Finally got around to setting up my new cluster. My current one is 3 m720q running Proxmox and using their local storage or connected via NFS to my UNRAID...
Also, I can include a ConnectX3 baffle I designed as well. For those of you running 40gbe cards in your little mini-power houses.

Not much information I can find on this, but a guy did make a 3D printable case with some other stuff that lets you put 4x2.5" drives in.

For you guys that are crazy enough to run 40gbe Mellanox cards in these beasts, made this for y'all.

Any one else looking for one? I'm currently away for work at the moment, but should have enough to make a few more sets. I'll restock parts soon in case more want some later.
Uhh, if it looks like this inside:

I think so.
If it looks like this, probably not...
Hey all!
About 6 months ago I designed a fan shroud that can be installed in your Lenovo M720q (and m920q) with a 10/25G network card that will significantly drop the temperatures of the card. In my cluster, I got a 44C temperature drop under 100% load with the CPU also at 100% load, just to...
Which brand of fans did you pick up? My WINSINN brand ones are barely even noticeable. They're brushless double ball bearing fans, so not much friction to be had from the motor themselves.
You may see if your local library has 3D printers available, it would be an easy way to print them out. :)
As for temperatures, the temps I measured were with a 100% CPU load, 32GB of RAM, and the Wi-Fi chip replaced with a 2TB NVMe. So probably similar to your build, except you'd have more...
With the specific card I'm using, there was EXACTLY, and I mean, EXACTLY 40mm squared of space. So it just barely works. On a different card, it may work perfectly fine.
Heyo! I'm the guy who made it. With the lid off you can hear the fan, but it's no where near as loud as the 3D printer ones. And generally the loud fan is the one cooling the heat break, not the nozzle. These are typically used for the nozzles.
With the lid on you can barely, barely, hear it.
I've been wanting to set up a Tiny cluster using my M720q model computers for a while, and with that have them use 10G networking. It seems that many people do use 10G network cards in these machines with varying success, the only issue I've seen that was a constant was the amount of heat build...
