What is the link? It cannot go lower than that I assume

Are the any difference between these cards and hp h240 other than firmware? Speed should be same, I presume.

hp h240 is great card but it is a pain to manage them as they need custom hp software, they can be only used for HBA. Better buy 2 in case I ever want to use RAID.

The seller in the other link doesn't ship to Canada, so I went with this guy instead :)

I believe they do support both IR and IT mode, you just need to flash them correctly and with the appropriate flavour of firmware to change one to the other. I haven't confirmed this yet, but will when they arrive :)

ok if it is only about flashing, then no issues. I guess $12.99 per card didn't include shipping.

I was able to update the firmware on mine under windows. Though for some reason, firmware update worked without card being completely reset. I am not sure how this worked.

Here is direct link for the package; since doing the right search on broadcom website is PITA:

Firmware update is a must because the bios on the card is super slow, 2+ minutes on each boot. I also noticed original firmware has limitations like it doesn't support host managed smr.

Here is the result of my firmware update:

Just bought one off eBay and came with FW15.00.00.00. Updated via MSM per your post. I also had LSI installed but didn't go that route.

FYI. Inspur doesn't have option to locate drive like the OG LSI 9311-8i (despite on FW16.00.10.00). Not a deal breaker since it's like $20 vs $60 and pre-flashed with IT mode.

Has anyone encountered these cards not working at all? I got two of the 9300-8i ones off of eBay from this listing: Inspur LSI 9300-8i Raid Card 12Gbps HBA HDD Controller High Profile IT MODE | eBay and neither of them show any sign of life on either my Intel or AMD motherboards (doesn't show the option ROM POST screen, doesn't show up under Windows or Arch linux, not detected by sas3flash in freeDOS or UEFI shell). I see there are 2 LEDs on the board, and these don't light up at all either; it's like the card isn't getting power.

You might be lucky and it's perhaps just the SMBus getting in the way of the card initialising, try taping off the pins or find a different Mainboard to test them with. Failing that, I would return them as duff :)

I bought one from the seller last month. Works out of the box in r240 running Trunas.

I tested my cards in a dell SFF-7050 with an i5 chip installed that I had conveniently laying beside my desk, so nothing fancy as far as the Mainboard goes. They were updated and now running on SuperMicro boards without trouble. Besides testing in a different mainboard, try removing all other cards, swapping slots etc :)

I didn't buy my cards from the same seller as you as they don't ship to here, but I can say that the seller I purchased from (linked above) was great to deal with :)
