So we finally see some products using those chips. Great. :)

EDIT: Seeker lists the power consumption as ≤ 18W in one of the images on their JD.com page. That seems kind of high to me, unless that's with every port running at full speed and power hungry 10GBase-T SFP+ modules. Would be nice to see an STH review of it. :)
well, it comes with a 12V 1.5A PSU so that's definitely if you have those power hungry 10G RJ45 modules, most people in china use 2.5G switches with either RJ45 modules or GPON sticks which are also power hungry

I just ordered a similar one from another manufacturer so I'm going to trying one. Can't try the fully enabled 2.5G part though as i don't have enough 2.5G part...

But I also have bought a Mercury (TP Link subsidiary) SE109 2.5G switch as well so I can try both at the same time and measure power draw at the wall
actually I probably can test it directly out of my bench PSU

Yes. I tried to buy one then, but they weren't available to NZ buyers at the time. Just giving a heads-up that they're easy to buy now.
Did you buy it? Would be interesting to hear what it's like in practice. :)

That's... not what I was expecting. I thought it was a MaxLinear when I bought it but did they figure out what looks like two RTL8373 to form 8x2.5G + 2x10G SFP+?
There's no way RTL8373 + RTL8224 could do 8x2.5G + 2x10G SFP+ is there
It's the sirivision model by the way. The Seeker ran out of stock when I was about to buy it during LNY so I found the sirivision

No, RTL8373 + RTL8224 would be one 10G link short as far as I know. That's why it's normally either sold as 4 + 2 or 8 + 1. :)

Former is too unlikely. Too expensive for a 2.5G switch.

In order to do that with 9301, you would need 3 chips which again is not feasible considering 9301 itself is already expensive because 9301 hasn't got 2.5G

Yeah, it wouldn't be cost effective.

If it's a managed switch you might be able to get some clues from the debug logs. If not, pulling apart a firmware update would be interesting. :)

So either finding a firmware image or getting serial output from it would be the available options then. It's also possible that Sirivision might even tell you if you ask, I suppose. :)

Anyway. It would be interesting to hear how you like it after you've used it for while.

Probably not going to **** with it. More likely than not I'll still buy the Seeker one. Cos I want to run two SFP+ if I ever need both
Oh for all intents and purposes it appears the Ubiquiti Enterprise 8 POE uses the same hardware... Sans the Poe or management
Depending on power draw I'll settle on either one to use. The 2.5gbe on my networking shelf will be served with the mercury (tplink) SE109

What makes you think the Ubiquiti switch is using the same hardware? Just curious. I haven't looked into that one myself. :)

Port configurations look the same, packet forwarding rate is exactly the same. Not saying it is but they're very coincidental. After all, ubnt is definitely using off the shelf hardware after all

It's certainly possible. They definitely use off the shelf components, but I don't know if they've ever used Realtek switch chips before.

How does your Sirivision switch compare to the MaxLinear based Seeker switch in terms of performance figures? That might also be a possible contender. :D
