I want to expand our SuperMicro SuperStorage 2029P-DN2R24L with more disks. This are my findings:

Samsung SSD PM1725a/PM1725b
Samsung SSD PM1733
WesternDigital Ultrastar DC SN840
Intel SSD DC D3600/DC3700
Intel SSD DC D4500/D4502/D4505/D4600
Toshiba KIOXIA CM5-R
Toshiba KIOXIA CM6-R
Toshiba KIOXIA CM7
Micron 7300
Micron 7400
Micron 7450
Micron 9400

Are there more options?

Does not matter. You can always put U.3 disks in U.2 backplanes.
A guy from HPE's engineering department posted a while back that some unspecified vendors were cheating and shipping U.3 disks that were not backward compatible with U.2... Double-check the datasheets before buying.

Concealed is such a strong word... "Practiced typical corporate discretion in regards to matters most don't even dare to openly discuss" is how I'd describe it. In any case, I checked the Micron 7450 datasheet as an example and it clearly states U.3, compatible with U.2 bays. If others don't do the same, beware!
