Turns out moving the IOM fixed the problem.

    Problem with DS4246

Turns out it wasn't the top slot. When I received the 4246 the top 2 slots had covers and the iom was in the top of the bottom 2 slots, when I actually put the IOM in real top slot the 4204 drives are recognized. Thanks for mentioning the slots or god knows how long I would have messed with this.

    Problem with DS4246

IOM12, never knew they made single channel SAS drives, how do you tell? Does the Netapp IOM's only support dual channel? The drives are fine in a 846 with SAS3 backplane and a EMC with SAS2.I only have one IOM since I do not need dual path capability, its in the top slot. If the slot matters...

    Problem with DS4246

Well I updated the firmware to the latest and no change. I also tried the 530's in a supermicro 846 with a 3008 card and they are fine. Definately a DS4246 problem, the HC530 WUH721414AL4204's are the only ones having this problem my HC530 WUH721414AL5204's work fine. Is there any way to update...

WD HC530 not recognized in Netapp DS4246

WUH721414AL4204 not recognized in DS4246, WUH721414AL5204 works. The 4204's were FW:240 and the 5204's are FW:400 I upgraded the 4204's to 400 but no change. They work in a EMC JBOD with same controller. All drives are SAS with no interposer. Any ideas? thnks

    Problem with DS4246

I switched for SAS3 support, 4U instead of 6U, DS is much quieter then 2 EMC's. No interposers needed with SAS only SATA and the HC530's are SAS as I said. I swapped the HC530's into other bays on the DS and still nothing, but the 2 seagates they swapped with worked fine in the original bays. I...

    Problem with DS4246

I just switched from 2 X EMC KTN-STL3 to a DS4246. IOM12 controller connected to 9305-16e. All drives are recognized except 2. They are WD HC530 SAS. They operate fine in the EMC. I read there were some problems with the SATA HC530's because of pin 3 but this wouldn't affect SAS drives, right...

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

Success, the 12.53.17 BMC was causing all the problems. After loading 12.61.21 from windows the BMC had no problem loading rev1 R28, followed by rev3 R36.

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

Loaded win10 to try, ran the bat file and a short 10 minutes later it updated the BMC to 12.61.21. Going to try the BIOS update from the new BMC, if that still doesn't work I'll try win10.

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

followed the pdf on updating BMC from ubuntu. Bash script gives permission error on line 41, when it tries to run gigaflash. The script does a chmod +x on this file so don't know why it errors. Anybody?

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

tried that, choose file, click start firmware update, it shows update type BIOS, did not check preserve, click proceed to flash, popup window states starting upgrade, click OK, processing wheel spins, uploads 100%, processing wheel disappears, wait 10 minutes, reload chrome, access BMC and still...

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

i just tried it, click on flash rom, loads to 100% and then nothing. Should it show anything in the BMC or do I just wait for a while and then reset?

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

I'm getting the verification error when trying to update BMC. When I try BIOS it shows uploading 100% and then nothing happens, I've tried 3 different versions so far, multiple times. The CPU is a 7282. 'll try the BMC update from linux.

When a MZ32-AR0 isn't and what to do.

It will support 7002/7003 if you upgrade to MZ32-AR0 rev3 BIOS. I cant even get it to take a rev1 BIOS. I used a rbu image for the BIOS upgrade and it loads 100% and then nothing. i used 126121.bin for the BMC upgrade and get the verification error.
