Can confirm that this indeed does the trick, after adding that into the /etc/vmware/passthrough.map and restarting the host, I now hae the ability to enable passthrough of the AHCI controller. Thanks for the assistance.

Anyone able to get the controller to passthrough in VMware ESXi? I have VT-D enabled in the BIOS but VMware is showing it as not capable of passthrough.
