Dang, I just got some sub-$100 R730s to replace my R710s (other Ruckus WiFi 6 is just too much on eBay right now!) arriving this week. I'm really hoping some others with a hacked R730 can post whether or not they were successful. Are you pretty pessimistic that more can't be done with firmware modding to get past 200.15?The Unleashed 200.15 release notes call out:
So hacked R730 owners may be stuck on Unleashed 200.14 forever. If this is a problem for you then now might be a good time to offload your R730 on eBay.
(but hopefully a workaround is possible)
Old iOS devices have a WPA3 issue where they only support discontinued DH groups. Maybe this issue hits your old Mac too? https://www.reddit.com/r/RuckusWiFi/comments/tuxgyn/_/i36nxszHi!
One of my kids recently got an older mac book air (2013) running Catalina 10.15.x i can't get it to connect to a wpa3 ssid. Is this a known limitation? (Should have support for wpa3). Can connect other apple products such as iphones and ipads etc.
Tried on 200.14 and 200.15 r710.
Aha, yes most likely. Will take years before i can use wpa3 only, so many legacy devices.Old iOS devices have a WPA3 issue where they only support discontinued DH groups. Maybe this issue hits your old Mac too? https://www.reddit.com/r/RuckusWiFi/comments/tuxgyn/_/i36nxsz
Happy to report that my Unleashed install with a R730->R850 Dedicated Master updated to 200.15.6.12.304 without a hitch.
I tried to update in big Unleashed network and it was reverted. I will be able to try only on my home r730 but only after 2-3 weeks. Can you verify the post-upgrade software release? It looks like Ruckus kernel changes cause a panic on the R730 and will rollback your upgrade.
200.15.6.12.304 out as mentioned by @ms264556
New Features
• Alignment with SmartZone (CFG802.11/Driver, Hostapd, conC]r-ࢢonőĺ
• User interface enhancements in terms of UI label changes, panel enhancements, and orࢢmb-ࢢonĺ
• Remote portal support is a cloud dashboard that allows the Unleashed administrators to control the wireless system remotely. The
remote portal shares the same account system with the mobile app (MA) and the bn=orm-ࢢon between URS and the mobile app is
synchronized. You can manage your APs in both the remote portal and MA.
– Unleashed 200.15 support.
– A structured -7mbnbs|r-ࢢon account that can assign permissions to authorized accounts.
– Support for full feature remote access to managed devices. A remote access service allows a remote administrator to fully control the
network (web user interface and CLI). A remote access service can detect if one network is up or not and can provide visibility to the
administrators.
• onC]r-ࢢon of Ethernet port rate Ѵbmb|-ࢢon for 11ax/H series APs from web user and CLI interfaces, on AP level.
• ICX bn=orm-ࢢon r;s|or-ࢢon in Unleashed.

Depends on size of your house. Probably r730/r850 will be enough.I currently have three Unify AC-Pros in my house. My CloudKey+ stopped working and I am tired of these APs and want to change.
I think I want to try Ruckus APs (I also have some of the ICX switches if that matters - a 6450 currently in service and two 6610s waiting to be swapped in). I am not going to spend $$$ on Wifi 6/7 however, so I believe that leaves me with a couple legitimate options IMHO..... Buy R710s or R730 (and flash them to R850s), or a combination of the two. I could easily use a R710 in one location as it is used very little.
Our household has 4 people - two adults and two teenagers. I also have a pretty large number of Wifi IOT devices (TVs, video streamers, and Tasmota flashed WiFi switches/outlets), plus all the regular things like phones, tablets, etc.
Any strong opinions from the experts on which course of action I should take? I appreciate any insight!
r720 is not so popular. I suppose the amount of produced units is much lower than r710/r730/r750No love for the r720/did I miss something about that model?
I see that r730 and r710 are mentionend more often
Another update for 200.15 is stronger encryption for e.g. backups. I'm not sure why they bothered though: it took an hour or so to work out the new algorithm & re-implement in C#.
Security through obscurity, that's how we know Ruckus... :xAnother update for 200.15 is stronger encryption for e.g. backups. I'm not sure why they bothered though: it took an hour or so to work out the new algorithm & re-implement in C#.
Code:ruckus> en ruckus# config ruckus(config)# wlan "name of your wifi" ruckus(config-wlan)# no qos directed-multicast (The above command will disable directed multicast on the wlan interfaces.) ruckus(config-wlan)# qos directed-threshold 0 ruckus(config-wlan)# end ruckus(config)# ap-group System Default ruckus(config-apgrp)# model r710 port-setting ruckus(config-apgrp-port)# no lan 1 qos directed-mcast ruckus(config-apgrp-port)# no lan 2 qos directed-mcast (Depending on the AP model, the above line might not be needed) ruckus(config-apgrp-port)# end ruckus(config-apgrp)# end ruckus(config)# end
To be fair, it's pretty difficult (? impossible?) to secure backups - the device needs to have the code and keys onboard to create and consume the backup files.Security through obscurity, that's how we know Ruckus... :x
Come on, it looks like done "for boss fun".Security through obscurity, that's how we know Ruckus... :x
Port settings are just for the wall mounted models in Unleashed.Following this on 200.15 I get
ruckus(config-apgrp)# model r710 port-setting
ap_name: r710
The model could not be configured in unleashed.
I'm pretty sure I have done this before, not sure if it is related to 200.15.
Anyone else has seen this? Trying to fix multicast for sonos.
...but the screenshots show an H350 as well...Note: Currently, only Unleashed H320 and H510 wall-plate APs provide Ethernet port configuration options.
Yes I can configure the group as a H350 (not sure if it has any effect though).Port settings are just for the wall mounted models in Unleashed.
