Best price I have seen in 6 months of watching by about $30.
I need a bigger wallet, nothing but moths today.

these are not oem so they should have much more compatibility and will work in intel S2600...

Looks like there's gonna be quite a lot of them so they'll probably go down in price even more. A few weeks ago E5-2695 v2 started showing up as well, first at $200, then a bit lower, and they just keep coming with more and more sellers listing loads of them. Now it's 2697 v2. I bought a couple of 2695s a month ago for $350. Thinking hard about upgrading to 2697, but however I look at it - just doesn't seem like a good deal.. paying 50%+ more for 12% higher clocks.

I'm still sitting with the 2670 v1's so the 2697 v2's are a pretty nice upgrade for my dungeon box. I have almost pulled the trigger on the 2680v2's a few times but always had other toys ahead of them on the hardware list and the hope that ddr4 would come down in price.

With the latest news being that Samsung has decided that they can make more money by producing less ddr4 I suspect that ddr4 will continue to be a bad value proposition for another 12 months :(

better load up on ddr3 and v2 cpu some more since ddr4 price going up will eventually trickle down to ddr3 and v2 cpu also going back up

Any recommendation on a single socket mainboard to go with this 2697 v2?
cheapest solutions are the cheap chinese mb.... the runing x79z can take up to 128gb ram using 16gb rdimm.

you can also use any X79 chipset but pretty much they are all limited to 64gb due to only using 8gb udimm.

you can also try to get a cheap lenovo s30 WS for $250 or less. Make sure to get one that use v2 since there is an earlier ver that seems to be much more common but is limited to v1. The later 4351/4352 models are the one you want.

Lenovo ThinkStation S30 (500GB HD, Intel Xeon E5-2620v2 2.1GHz, 8GB) | eBay

That's a better one you should go for since it's a biddable one which usually go for lower than buy it now price. shipping cost is $100 (seller trying to make money off shipping cost, not knowing ebay also charge seller fee on shipping cost also?)..... Aim for a total price of less than $250

Another easy quick clue to spot if the S30 is a 4351/2 supporting v2 is looking at the pic of the front. If the USB on front panel is labeled SS, then it's the 4351/2.... otherwise it's the crappy 4229 ver....

only one cpu left... someone bought 5 at once...lol..

I know these are like 4-5 yr old tech which seems like prehistoric for tech time... but we are still so drawn to them...lol... guess because they are slightly ahead of their time when the consumers only know 4cores/8threads mostly? :)

5 seems like a strange number??? I would imagine singles or pairs would make more sense.... and that order was a BO, so I'm guessing they offered less than the asking $285.

Maybe they are building 5 WS? guess these v2 cpu still have a lot of real world use?

Guess it will be a while before we all move to newer platform... I havent seen any good v3 or v4 cpu deals lately even with the drop in TR price...

Given that you can build a WS with dual 2697 or 2696 v2 with 256GB ram for much cheaper than 1950X (even if 256GB ram is possible with TR, not to mention hugely more expensive with 32GB DDR4 modules), i think my dual 2696 v2 with 256gb will be around for maybe at least another yr?

Someone bid on this real quick... only 45 mins left.... currently price is only $144, a bargain for a lenovo s30 v2 WS!
