Anyone have experience with this processor? If so, how useful is it for a kvm (proxmox) host or for linux in general? These are one of the options in the cisco ucs-e line for older isr routers as a single slot line card.

If useful I may pick one up. I'm a bit worried it may be totally useless as it's ivy bridge based, only 4c/8t and 1.8ghz. Kind of wondering what throughput I'd get with an opnsense vm.

It's not a socketed CPU, so you won't be able to move it to another system. With that said, it was specifically designed to be used in embedded network devices, but it's a bit dated being 9 years old now. Well I found 2 on ebay one (0HD, 8G ram) for $135+$10 shipping, the other (2 600G sas, 8G ram) was $153 + $10 shipping. Same guy.

I offered $100 ea and the guy took it....so I guess I own 2 of these things. They are 4c/8t so I hope I can use them for light vm duty at a minimum. I have some other ecc reg ram to bring these up to 16GB so no issues there.

Wondering if I can swap in sata ssd instead of sas drives, however.
