Looking for an economical Brocade ICX6430-24P switch & rack ears for my home lab. ICX6450-24P or ICX6450-24 would be good too, if right price. Let me know if you find any good deals, or have one you can let go. ...Ebay has lots of -48, but -24 are getting harder to find & prices going up with everyone staying home. Thank You, ABQ :)

I know it isn't the fancy brocade, but what about an aruba s2500-24p with rack ears?
I'd have to think about sale price vs keeping as a backup vs cost of shipping in the US...

@gregsachs, thank you for your suggestion. Those aruba s2500-24p are very nice switches (you even have rack ears!), but i fear international shipping may be rather expensive. I think I will concentrate on Brocade/Ruckus ICX series switched for now. Best Regards:)

Not a problem at all, didn't realize you were not in US and don't think i'd want to ship out of US anyway!
I found the aruba web UI pretty, and it was definitely a little simpler for some things. If you aren't locked into the ICX, i think the aruba is also worth looking at. The ICX handles IPV6 better, I believe, and SFlow which the Aruba doesn't. All depends on your requirements.

I am actually in New Mexico, USA ;) ...I mistakenly assumed your "vs cost of shipping in the US" meant you were shipping from outside US, apologies.

Not a problem. There are some of both 6450-24p and s2500-24p on ebay for ~100 now, too. At that cost I might as well hang on to my s2500 as a spare...

I have to smile when I catch myself slipping into wanting to buy below ebay prices, and sell above or without fees;). Trying to remember that time is worth something, this is a hobby, give back, and not worry over a few dollars. To help reinforce that thought, I'll look on eBay and just buy! And will also throw old PFsense box on STH freebie thread. Especially important since @BlueFox so graciously gave me an awesome 510T case;).

Just wanted to leave a note that current good price on ebay is ~$100 for ICX6450-24P switches, and curiously ~$75 for the -48 version.

If you don't mind asking, do you have links or tips what to search for? Cheapest I find is 169 right now, and that's just a single seller who only ships inside US (I'm in Asia). Don't see any of those cheap 48ps either (though I've snagged one before - need a secondary one since i'm moving houses)

Oh, and I'm in the market, since it sounds you're not @abq ;)

Could also go for a 7150-24P or 6450-48p

I think the shipping is the killer; I tried singapore as generic asia, and shipping was minimum of $70, where in US it would be free.

I would recommend the usual approaches, like ebay & google shopping. ...I just watched a brand new, in original box ICX6450-24P sell for $143 yesterday (Brocade ICX 6450-48P 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch for sale online | eBay). My best deal on ICX6450-24P was $75 around Christmas. My advice is keep looking and be patient ;)

edit: 24 port ICX are definitely more expensive than 48 port ICX for last few months (POE or not), and only saves a few watts, so smart to consider the -48 version like you did for your previous house. I think wealthier home lab types are main driver of this strange supply-demand inversion. e.g. less ports are more expensive, but same 1u rack size, with only ~8 watt delta for -24 to -48 on ICX6430 & ICX 7250. I went ahead with -48 for my ICX7450, since I could not justify current -24 price premiums.

I think there are some folks purchasing the cheaper ones and reselling. There aren't large quantity being dumped from commercial or production environments anymore, so nothing driving down prices, until next generation & 2.5/5.0 gbe switches become more common. ...Still recommend hanging tight & being patent. The $143 for 'new in box' above was probably the deal of the month, but also occasional 'used' under $100 still.

i've come to the same conclusion re: 24p vs 48p. the 6450-24P are in less supply and higher priced than the 6450-48P. i've only been looking on ebay for a week, so thought i'd drop into this thread as @abq is keeping it alive and i think got one? i have a hunch that those low starting bid models are somehow broken? dead ports, etc. is that just me being pessimistic?

i'm looking to replace my Netgear GS724T smart switch and two POE injectors for a proper L3 POE switch, and for some reason just became aware of the Brocade's. So if anyone has one.
