Hi!, I was looking over the Epyc 7742, there is several of them, and DELL locked... so I thought.... maybe we can buy a DELL mobo and use them there... is this possible and realistic to do? As a example, which mobo we can use for a locked 7742?

There is mobos like r6525 which in theory supports Epyc Gen 2 and 3, should it works?

Thx!

Those locked epycs would only function well in all kinds of DELL EPYC server.

sure. I would have bought one relative cheap R7525 board too if the power supplies weren't such expensive.

you need at least special power distribution board and a matching dell PSU
or even two Dell PSU (dual socket EPYC boards)
Dell mboards are OEM and only sold as replacement parts without service TAG, not like supermicro in retail package.

forgot you probably need the (special dell)front panel to start the system.
