suddenly have some strange issues with my lsi card.
it's a crossflashed m1015, and it has worked perfectly until recently.

freenas saw the drives and created a zpool, next reboot, no drives.
tried p15, p19 and p20, no difference.

figured I should look at napp-it, and here I atleast got an error message during boot:
mptsas bad flash signature

it could not initialize chip.

is my controller dead?

Most likely a bad flash, prolly a checksum error or something. I would fully erase/ clean and re-flash it and try again. Make sure you use the tools that come with the firmware package you are using :)

Have you ran any updates on your system recently? Could it be an mptsas issue? Try running the card in a different OS, CentOS or Debian and see if the problem persists. Beyond that, I think you might be looking at a duff card :)
