is there a problem with head load with the WD green disks?
I read something about it on german amazon site under reviews.

The issue seems, that the WD greens idle after ten seconds and that therefore the head cycles of 100.000 are reached pretty fast.

can anyone confirm that or is this a no brainer in a OMNIOS / napp-it system.

greens are still a lot cheaper than the red series

Haven't tried this with newer drives, but this was certainly the case in the 1-2TB era. I bought 16x 1.5TB drives and put them in different servers. 15 of those 16 failed in under 24 months. The one that is still running was in a Windows Home Server (v1). Here is a *very early* STH post: http://www.servethehome.com/the-big-whs-disaster-strikes-part-ii/
