Thank you very much. I use X11DPG with MCP2221A tool.
How to send you a coffee cup (paypal).
Hi, jhgjhgj, I have a X11DPG-QT rev 1.10a, and the controller is PXE1610CDN.
VRM controller addresses are 50 and 52 ?
Did you use these two code?
Code: said:
MCP2221a_iccmax_FF.exe -PXE1610C 50
MCP2221a_iccmax_FF.exe -PXE1610C 52

unfortunaly i have no info about the address, but X11DPU use PXE1610C 50,52.
you can try these two commands, if the PXE1610C have other address you just get a msg, not found.

update:
MCP2221a (Adafruit)
i made a c# console app for automatic programming ( MCP2221a_iccmax_FF(16042024).7z ) vrm TPS53679/PXE1610C/MP2955A
(if you have concerns using my exe on your system: use iLSpy to see/get the c# sourcecode of them, and recomplie your own)
typical usage(cmd window without quotes)
"MCP2221a_iccmax_FF -PXE1610C 50"

X11DPG addresses are 50, 52
controller PXE1610C
X11DPG:
Remove the JVRM1/2 jumpers and connect the I2C :
JVRM1 pin2 = SCL
JVRM2 pin2 = SDA
T-SGPIO1 Header Pin3/6 = GND (or any other GND pin)

Currently thinking of getting 8259CL for my x11spi-tf and x11dpi nt,
after reading through all the posts, just for my understanding, the 8259cl are only a couple watts above the factory limits of the board,
is there a risk of sth burning up when this mod is used or
are other limits (like for vrm temps) still active and will trigger a shutdown in case they get too hot on prolonged loads?
Are there any other safety limits disabled by this?
Do i need to flash a custom bios or is the vrm mod with the tool enough?
Thanks :)

the per phase OCP is not changed. icc_max is just a ref. value of the VRM capability.
the higher TDC on most OEM is just to make them incompatible with std. motherboards.
compare PL1,PL2 values of std SKU vs OEM
8280
PL1 205W
PL2 246W
8259CL
PL1 210W
PL2 252W
we see the high TDC SKU draw max. 5/6 Watts more.

Do i need to flash a custom bios
no, only on X11SPL and X11SPM (max. 165W)

ok thanks a lot,
do you by any chance know the power draw of the 8259CL in any of the boards (total system is fine to)
mostly interested in idle power draw, i try to get an indication if there is a huge difference in low usage / close to idle scenarios from my tiny 4108

what is the package power (HWinfo sensors) of your 4108 in IDLE (all cores down to 1200mhz)

dont really know actually, it is mostly stock config and the entire system (x11spi-tf, 6x 64gb 2400mhz, corsair hx850i and sata ssd (no pcie or other storage) is ~60-65w at the pdu while booted in proxmox no vms running and with my dpi nt same config (only one cpu installed) i get about the same (maybe marginally more)

impossible to find one with exact same config like yours.
pls install win+HWinfo and check package power.
Platinum 8222CL draws 24..25Watts at IDLE ( all cores down to 1200Mhz )

i am using that system as one of my primary servers, so can really reinstall / dual boot it, do you know any hwinfo alternative for linux / debian, could run that

not really. but expect just 5..10watts more than 4108. i can buy 4108 (cheap today 18 EUR) and make a vs check.

ok you dont need to get one extra for this, 5-10w more would be totally fine,
other question, it wouldnt be a good idea to put two 8259CL on a X11DPI NT due to the missing heat sink for cpu 1 right?
Theoretically speaking, if someone would still put one on it (with the vrm software mod) would it just switch off when the vrm overheats or would it burn up / cause actual damage?

none of the protection mechanisms are removed. most of the high TDC SKUs DON'T draw more power than std.SKUs
most motherboards with outofthebox support of these high TDC SKUs have NOT better VRM.
mainly the high TDC value is used to make them incompatible for nonOEM.motherboards.

the VRM Heatsink CPU1 is missing because it will be disturb the airflow in a classic server chassis.
if you put the X11DPi in a Workstation Case install the VRM Heatsink.

ok thanks, wanted to be really sure,
airflow with the second heatsink shouldnt be to much of a problem planing to use it in a 4u chassis with two Noctua NH-D9 DX-3647

Generally speaking do vrms have over temperature protection?
They apparently have a temp sensor since it shows up in the ipmi, do they have one or one on each stage?
Lets say the vrm heatsink doesnt make good contact or otherwise fails and the vrms get no cooling,
will they blow up / cause hardware damage, or will they just shut off?
You mentioned that the vrm mod doesnt DISABLE any security measures which makes sense, but are there any on the boards in the first place that prevent damage in case of vrm overheat or current?
Sry to ask so detailed, but dont want to fry a board :)

no. but all boards we mod here have OTP integrated in the VRM controller.

this is DrMOS style, each power stage phase have temp. sensor reported to the VRM controller.

you can choose a board with 6+1 phase config. lower per phase current operation.
but note even ASRock Rack/Gigabyte with out of the box support of hight TDC SKU use 5+1 phase (except WC621D8A-2T )
most of the high TDC SKUs do NOT use more power than std. 205W Platinum SKUs like 8280,8270.
if your cooling can run a 8270,8280, you are very fine.

I have HP server use pxe1610c and i scan these address. How to know which address to use ?
try all until you found two, you just get "not found" if there is no 1610c on that address.
after that report the HP model and addresses, thanks.
