I was trying to decide for a while, and then I looked again 20minutes later: seller had 1 last drive available! I couldn't resist hehheh

No. Those 2.5" PCIe drives use NVME protocol that is incompatible with SATA interface.

BTW, my personal experience is that the AIC driver is a lot cooler than 2.5" when the airflow is low or moderate.

Thank you for the link and clarification. Did you just follow the instructions that were posted in that link to update the firmware?

sudo apt-get install nvme-cli
sudo nvme list
sudo nvme fw-download /dev/nvme0 --fw=MS1PC2DD3.IR3Q.fw
sudo nvme fw-activate /dev/nvme0 --action=1
sudo nvme reset /dev/nvme0

Yes, just make sure you use the firmware that matches your drive ( MS1PC2DD3 or MS1PC5ED3)

Got my drive in today. Did some initial testing on an old dual 1366 system and got speeds limited by pcie gen 2 x8. My drive had 50TB written according to smartctl, and showed 0% life used. Excited to replace my main vm drive.

According to smart, 1696 hours right now, probably 24 of those are me using here.

Here is the full smart data from my drive. Nothing looks odd, so Im guessing they haven't tampered with it. I should probably get a fan on it, its running pretty toasty now.

That's pretty good smart data.

I ended up buying one of the 1.6TB to mess around with, I regret missing the 3TB deal.

What kind of fan do you plan to use?
