Hi,
I would like to share with you my confusion about the storage solutions provided by Synology for VMware.
In short, if you want a datastore on your NAS, you can choose
1. iSCSI (file) + VAAI + snapshot + clone
2. iSCSI (block level) + no features
3. NFSv3 + VAAI
4. NFSv4 + no features
And here comes my confusion
- If you pick 1. you have VAAI hardware acceleration support, LUN snapshot and LUN clone but "less performance and more flexibility"
- If you pick 2. you have "best performance" but no VAAI and none of the other "magic"
- If you pick 3. you can have the VAAI but none of the NFSv4 advantages
- If you pick 4. you have NFSv4 but no VAAI support
Does this sounds absurd only to me?
