Hello There

I have 2 different powersupplies and I'm wondering if I can exchange them for noise reasons.

Currently Installed: PWS-721P-1R ( Case: 825tq-r720lpb )
New ones available: PWS-1k03A-1R

I already checked the physical appearance, both have the exact same form factor and connectors.

The compatibility is not officially stated but I think I should be able to exchange them without blowing anything up?

Thanks in advance

Morpheus

Edit2:
Both have "Gold Finger (19 Pair Connector)" so they should be compatible.
The newer ones have PMBus 1.2 so that will depend on your board.

I don't think anything would happen, usually they don't power up if not compatible.

But not really sure the newer ones are more silent, depends on the load you put on them (and resulting fan levels)

I've now exchange the power supplies and it works.
The PSU's are now much quiter. No high pitched 9000 rpm sound anymore, the PWS-1k03A-1R runs with ~4000 rpm fan speed

Thanks for the help

A little update. Today I walked into the room and thought that my server has failed. But then I heard the gentle sound of the 80mm fans and I realized that 90% of all the noise came from the old power supplies which are no longer there now :)
