As far as populating memory goes the downloadable manual should go over this, each socket should have the exact same memory layout with installed sticks, you will have to install them in sets of 4 of what ever capacity you decide on and should not mix capacities up, 4GB sticks and 8GB sticks etc., it very well could work doing that, who knows unless you try right ;)

How do you plan on cooling these CPU's ?

I really do not think those NH U9DX i4 will fit. I use those same heat sinks on my dual cpu setups all the time, there would simply be no space for the heat sink over hang on these sockets, they are huge and take up a lot of space.

Update: Found an European supplier for Supermicro SNK-P0048PS heatsinks, real cheap $28 each, free delivery and these are listed as fully compatible parts in the official Heatsink Matrix.
