Stumbled upon this random listing that might be interesting for somebody here, not the model i was looking for but not a bad deal imo.

4U 4Node supermicro 8LFF per node unit with a charming 1tb ram across them (sadly in 16gb dimms tho)
"Each Node has 2x E5-2650 V4 Processor and 256GB Ram"
Should be onboard sas3008 and if lucky the node config with nvme available on rear bays

Who will try a 400$ offer in the name of science?
Been sitting for ages with 5 price drops since kinda poorly written listing with no mobo/node models etc or mentioning 1tb

SUPERMICRO CSE-F424 4U 4-Node Server 2x E5-2650 V4 2.2GHz 256GB RAM 4x PSUs

I think they probably got a wholesaler offer from someone monitoring this forum - happens not-infrequently when there's a lot of anything that's really far below market value posted up.

I expect they'll be relisted at double the price in the coming weeks by someone else :(

Honestly they are too old to be useful. Even haswell/broadwell is getting out of the picture.

Yes, agreed. Subsequent generations of Scalable improved on power consumption, particularly under load, but IPC and ISA improvements are only incremental.
