Why on earth would anybody want an x16 card that can only handle a single x4 M.2 drive?

If the card was a normal x4 card, it would work in any slot and still give full speed.

I'm using a Sabrent M.2 to PCIe adapter in a slot that is x16 physically but x8 electrically. So I'm 'only' losing 4 lanes.

The bios does not support bifurbication and if/when I need the extra lanes I'll look into something with a PLX.

I'd have preferred a version that is 4x physically and fits but can't find one
