This seems like a worthy cause.

@Jacen Li if you have no storage I'll provide that.

depending on what your chassis can handle - would need to know bay count form factor, and preference:

SFF: some 500gb sata spinners - consumer grade.
SFF: a couple of 480gb ssd's - consumer grade.
SFF: a couple of 600GB 10K SAS spinners - enterprise grade.
LFF: a couple of SATA 1TB or 2TB - prosumer grade.
NVME: a couple of 256GB nvme m.2 80 - consumer grade.
you'd have to scrounge for pcie to nvme adapters though I might have one floating around I can spare.

I actually have a stand-alone WS460 G6 running as a file and media server. Has two mxm gpus and a usb wifi.
Not so much a problem if you're okay remoting into it as those mxm cards do not output video, and to activate them the blade must be user mode which disables the internal Matrox. The HP blades are extremely cheap and efficient, provided you can work out a way to cool them which is the biggest problem.

On the other hand, I have 2x WS460 G8 & 2x G9 blades on a custom-built enclosure for gpu farming. I'm not going to talk about what I modifications I did to those poor blades.
