This was a mistake by the seller !!!

When I just hit it it was still 95 AU$. When I went to <Checkout> it was changed to AU$ 295.00. I guess the seller would cancel the sale anyway.

I should have bought them as soon as you posted:( instead I offered $70ea to offset the postage. Now I'm kicking myself. We barely ever get any deals in OZ as it is
I wouldn't kick yourself, the guy just would have cancelled your order and reposted at the "correct" price.

It should be noted that the last version of WinOF-2 supporting CX4 VPI in Windows is v3.0, and the minimum supported card from 3.1 is CX4 LX :(

Isn't Cx4 vpi using same drivers as the CX5?

Somewhere somebody had mentioned similar issues for ESXi ( cx4 not being supported in a future version) but with the same driver that seemed unlikely...

Since v3.1, the device ID of CX4 VPI in mlx5.sys has been deleted, so even if the same driver is used, it will lose support. I guess the same situation will appear in ESXi soon? Finally, only linux and freebsd are left

CX2 and CX3 cards used to share the same mlx4 driver stack on ESXi up until ESXi 7, when CX2 support was depreciated. So not as unlikely as you think.

Since nvidia is starting to drop support for CX4 cards, it's extremely unlikely that they will develop CX4 drivers in future versions of ESXi.
