This card was listed for 2199 EUR January 2023. Without doing research, how would this stack up against those 500-600 EUR AMD and Nvidia gaming cards? Seems like a good deal for both casual gaming and other workloads like transcoding, LLM etc?
Maybe i should start researching if this would be a good buy, that would stand the test of time better than consumer stuff at same pricepoint, it is pcie4 etc..
edit: seems like the major feature here is the ability to link 2 cards:

If you value your sanity do not get these for any Pro tasks. AMD's drivers are atrociously bad.
Never heard that this card sucks from 'atrociously bad' drivers in Pro software related to SR-IOV. Can you provide some clarification here?
In terms of performance stack its around Titan V, and 2080 (depending on cpu performance.)
Rocm support is quite decent, this is the earliest card that is still mostly supported. (no vgpu support through rocm - unless you can fool its the mi50)
The ai upscale transcode + intrapolation from 24fps to 30fps (topaz ai)
from 480p to 1080p (same setting)
2080 gets around 3.4fps
Titan V gets around 4.1fps
Rad7Pro gets around 4.4fps
A4000 gets around 5.9fps
3080Ti gets around 6.6fps
7900xtx gets around 14fps
In terms of games rad7pro is closer to 1080Ti, but if you have good cpu it will be around 2070/2080/2080Ti
First rev. of rad7 pro had 32G (locked down to 16G), was unreleased V420. Its possible to load mi50 rom onto it through kvm.
(but there are problems with complexity how amd handles their pcie links - you'll likely be stuck with 70% the performance in kvm)
If you plan on using it for games, the card has no such value. In terms of AI/Transcode you will be much better off with newer cards like A4000.
The only big pro thats left for rad7/pro is fluidmotion on videos. It takes a bit - but if you don't want to deal with hassle of intrapolation transcode, and just play low frame-rate videos (anime) or even movies in real time in windows... in 40-50fps this is the best card - and only solution.
(worth noting, madVR can also do intrapolating in fly - but only to 30fps from 24fps.)
Note: This isn't the same fluidmotion thats being advertised in games right now. Its an older implementation only on Vega ~
(oh and you don't need radeon vii pro for that, you can just use normal radeon vii)
Summary:
If you are lazy, and you just want 15-24fps videos to play smoothly in 40-50fps you can pay 600+ usd for it.
If you want to transcode / AI get A4000 for same price or much lower.
