Is TCP / UDP still good at those speeds? I thought it posed some large overhead that other protocols didn't have.

Define good

Basically all nics with >= 10gbe support some sort of tcp/udp offloading which should help to reduce load on the cpus.
But this is still not comparable to RoCE.
