Watch out for *E3* CPUs - they are not compatible with ECC Registered DIMMs.

All 2011-0 CPUs (E5 26xx v1/v2) support DDR3 RDIMM like what you have. I'm pretty sure all C602 boards should support RDIMM.

That generation has by now depreciated to the point that you have a number of combo options available to you, with MB+CPU+RAM in an affordable package. 2011-0 2P (Supermicro X9DR*), 2011-0 1P (X9SR*), 1155 (X9SC*), 1150 (X10SL*) all should be within reach.

Prebuilt tower workstation would have been a cost-effective alternative if you did not already have case+PSU.
