Hi all

I have just bought a refurbished Dell PERC H330 to connect an internal Dell SAS 10k 300 Gb hard drive (model:EXOS 10E300)

Looks like i need a SFF-8643 to 4 x SFF-8482 cable like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/CableDeconn-SFF-8643-Internal-connectors-H0204/dp/B07B9SBSVW

But it looks like those cables are of bad quality and i dont want to take any risk with my data so i would prefer to buy a LSI or Adaptec cable.

Do you think that this one should work ?
https://www.amazon.com/Adaptec-2279600-r-right-4sashd-sff-8643/dp/B00KXAUR1O

Will i be able to take advantage of the 12Gb interface with that cable ?

Thanks a lot for your help

For a spinning disks 6G is already enough so 12G is kind of pointless, although it should point to a better quality cable.
Most cables are make by and oem for the major companies, I can’t remenber who it is though. I think that HPE use 3M.

Thanks for your time Evan.

I am a beginner with SAS controller ... I am searching for advices because my hard drive is not spinning using a PERC H310 with an original Dell cable (a SATA drive with the same controller and the same cable is working great). So i thought my problem is due to the need of a 12Gb SAS controller with that EXOS 10E300.

Do you think the Adaptec cable will be OK (i mean are the connectors of the cable compatible with the hard drive and on the H330) ?

Thanks a lot
Guillaume

You issue is most likely 3.3v "power disable" feature on the 12gb hard drive. I'm on mobile to search and post link but there are couple of posts on this forum on how to bypass that.

You mentioned your cable and H310 works fine on other drive. You can still use the same controller and cable, just need to tape the sata power pins 1-3.

Thanks a lot, you were right ! I have powered my drive with a molex to sata adapter and its working with a Perc H310 card flashed to IT mode (Avago firmware)

Have a nice day
