Home server so I dont need redundant and I would like something efficient...ish.

It will need to be able to power:
2 G34 6128's
8 Sticks of RDDR3
16 HDDs, at least 4 are 10Ks and my biggest array is 4 drives. I currently only have 12 drives with 2 being SSDs but would like to expand.

From my searching the offerings in stand alone 2U/3U PSUs are some what thin. I would like in the 550W to 850W range and at the very least 80 plus efficiency. Anyone have good experience with a unit?

It is going into a Chenbro RM31616. I have a Zippy N+1 in it now, but cant get it to play nice with my Asus board. Push the power button or try to power on from iKVM and it will start up and instantly die.

Im thinking this or this.

TIA

Well the iStar is a 2U with a big fan so probably quieter. It also has more 4-pin molex connectors. On the other hand it is ~50% more and 80+ rather than 80+ gold.

Any chance you can fit a Seasonic x-650 or x-660? It would be much quieter and I prefer single rail PSUs for storage enclosures after overloading a multi-rail 1050w unit on 16 drives.

An ATX PSU will fit in but it would rest on CPU1's ram. Standing it up like in a 4U, the PSU is ~1.5 in to tall. I have a X750, the cables are long enough to just set it outside of the case for now until I get something else done.

Ever figure this one out? Makes me think twice about getting a 3u.
