I don't think that the CPU plays any role in this. In specific a CPU has a number of lanes and the chipset via the motherboard is the one that gives what is what in its connectors & slots. So from my understanding the x8 can be devide to 4x4 at least.
It's a decision from minisforum if they will implement this in a feature bios IMO.
I guess we could check if somebody could pull the bios: Guide about how to check PCI-E Bifurcation support of any mainboard : r/Amd (reddit.com)

I don't think that applies because it's for checking feature support in a motherboard you don't have. It simply checks whether the option is available in the BIOS or not, so that you can avoid boards that don't have it. If you actually had the mobo in hand, you could just check the BIOS and see if it's there or not.

Most PCIE lanes come from CPU, if the CPU (The PCIE Controller within the CPU) does not support Bifurcation you are lost for all those lanes.
If ever there is a chipset it mostly does connection like USB, Thunderbolt, sometimes slower M.2 PCIE and so on.
So for this board: no, you can’t bifurcation the PCIE slot, not even with a BIOS mod.

Has anyone tested Sparkle A310 Eco with MS-01? I just received mine, but I'm still waiting for MS-01 to arrive (ordered an early bird...). It seems to be the only Intel ARC card which will fit in MS-01. It's probably comparable to iGPU in 13900H, but I want to have two GPUs so one can be passed through to specific VM all the time and second to be available for other VMs when needed.

It should work fine, also support AV1 encode which is a bonus :)

Correct, only one 2.5GB connected. No HDMI, no Keyboard or other USB IO. Still in the progress of pulling fibre through the house.
What measurement device have you used? I am asking because at such low consumptions the power factor is usually low and not all measurement devices consider that.

Anyone using MS-01, Proxmox and pf/opnsense for testing 10G connectivity? Any experience so far?

What’s your connection type, any particular config on pfSense? Are you testing just WAN throughput with no LAN behind pfSense?
Pfsense is running defaults, apart from my own DNS, Firewall Rules, Vlans, nothing adjusted on the core os or advanced settings.

By the way everybody, just received my second MS-01 from Amazon and the switch for Gen 4 slot was set to U.2 even though this unit came preinstalled with NVME M.2 SSD.......;
Maybe their staff forgot to set the switch to the designated position.
You received 2nd unit, good for you my friend. Others from US received also 3-4-5 units, and we, the rest EU early birds received 1 di@@@@ so far......
Anybody from EU that received order placed in early Jan DIRECT from Minisforum? Or any other related info? Thank you in advance.

I have also one to come from Earlybird in EU but Minisforum dont give a flying monkey about there customers, decided to grab two extra whilst the prices are cheap on Amazon.

With regards to U.2 switch, just shows that they dont have good QC on their units...........

This is the card that is good from SonnetTech and i wonder if it will work.. i suppose it will... With this you can add anything you like :)
I think it will depend on application. I was looking at these type of pcie boxes over TB for truenas, but seems like no TB suport there and ended up just getting the dual nvme abelconn card.

Thunderbolt works very well on Truenas Core and Scale, used it myself and never had an issue.
My use case was an Intel NUC 9 and Thunderbay 8 which had SATA SSD Controller on the Thundebolt 3 PCIe controller:

Noticed that too. Try disabling the TPM device and reboot is what worked for me. Secure boot is always pain in the butt.

Is the Lexar NM790 the only single-side 4TB NVMe available? Any issues with heat using > 2TB drives?
I plan to use 2X Samsung PM983a 22110 Enterprise NVMe in RAIDZ1. Those run fairly hot. Wonder if I'll run into issues with thermal?
this looks like it might be as well
