LSI HBA BIOS disk ID

This is something that has always frustrated me. I don't understand how the BIOS comes up with these disk names/IDs.

I've looked in the LSI configuration utility and I can see the #0700 and #8300 are the PCI slots. But the "IDXX" for the disks isn't referenced in the LSI utilities or using various linux commands. So if I know I want to boot from disk slot #0, Enclosure #1...what do I pick?!

My guess was the ID is HEX based. So;
09 = slot 0
0A = slot 1
0B = slot 3
and so on...but I'm not sure because it doesn't seem to be working for me.

The 2 cards are LSI 9300-8 running in HBA mode.
