Hi,

I have a bunch of 3.5 to 2.5 adapters from SM for my 826/836/846 type of chassis. O/c they are quite expensive and I might need another larger number soon..

So I wonder whether there are alternatives? I have many 3.5 tryas o/c, has anyone found a cheaper matching adapter for SSD (sata or sas) that aligns well enough to use?

Thanks

I assume both Dell adapters and the IcyDock's work fine and dont have any issues with misalignment ?

My IcyDock adapters have zero issues with alignment. I also like that I can swap SSDs without needing to unscrew anything

The Icy Dock's literally turn your 2.5" drive into a 3.5" drive. So they would work just as any other 3.5" driver would.

ah ok.
12.50 is not much cheaper than the $15 the SM's cost though but more flexible

Oh my, yes its 7.5 and not 12.50. Too hot :(

And thanks for the offer but I am in Europe, probably not worth the postage.
And in total I might be looking at a whole lot, i.e 20+;)
Basically I am evaluating options for a FatTwin I am eyeballing where the 8x6's adapters I have won't fit.

First i bought 4 of these: JEYI K109 Server 2.5 Inch To 3.5 Inch Hard Disk Tray Drawer Box With All Aluminum SATA3.0 Interface Hard Drive Bracket-in HDD Enclosure from Computer & Office on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group. Was initially a bit skeptical about the quality, but i was really impressed with the quality of these adapter (JEYI).
Then i got 2 of these: 2.5" SSD to 3.5" SATA adapter Tray Converter SAS HDD Bracket Caddy HP 654540 001, free shipping-in HDD Enclosure from Computer & Office on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group. These are very good to.
I think the latter one are that ppl use in SM servers as 3.5" to 2.5" adapter?

I have both of them in SM 826 in my DCs.

Yep, i must say i agree. Just checked the order details: 02:25 Dec. 17 2016 and Order amount: $ 17.84 for 4pcs. Back then the price was $2.50 + shipping. Dunno why they've raised prices to this level!
