Hi there,

I just recieved an ICX6610, and it dosen't want to boot.
I try to update the image and the boot via tftp, i also try to erase the config; but i'm still block.

Here is what I have via the console cable :
$
ICX Boot Code Version 10.0.00 (grz10000)
Enter 'a' to stop at memory test
Enter 'b' to stop at boot monitor
BOOT INFO: load monitor from boot flash, cksum = be99
BOOT INFO: verify flash files...
BOOT INFO: load image from primary copy...
platf$
ICX Boot Code Version 10.0.00 (grz10000)
Enter 'a' to stop at memory test
Enter 'b' to stop at boot monitor
BOOT INFO: load monitor from boot flash, cksum = be99
BOOT INFO: verify flash files...
BOOT INFO: load image from primary copy...
platf$

If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.

Try hitting b and stopping at the boot monitor, set up a tftp server and do

Code:
MONITOR> copy tftp flash x.x.x.y FCXSxxxxxx.bin primary
MONITOR> boot system flash primary

According to your first post, the bootloader & OS is passing the checksum test (so the bootloader and flash are intact) but as soon as it starts to load the OS image it bootloops (it should continue on with "platform type = 12") - I'd be worried this is bad CPU or memory, but it's worth trying the newer bootloader and OS image from a clean flash:

download this zip and put the ICX6610 bootloader and OS image on your tftp server http://fohdeesha.com/data/other/08030s.zip

Then hitting B to stop in the bootloader, run the following:
Code:
copy tftp flash 128.1.200.201 grz10100.bin boot
reset
#should reboot with the newer bootloader, hit B again
#now in the newer bootloader:
copy tftp flash 128.1.200.201 FCXR08030s.bin primary
reset
it should hopefully reboot, load the new bootloader, then succesfully load the new OS image

If that doesn't work, move on to the following - if you have another power supply (like a power supply in a different slot), unplug the current PSU and plug in the other PSU, then try booting again. There's a small chance this is a bad PSU, which is only failing under load. When it boots the OS image (where your boot is failing) is when it brings the ASIC online, which greatly increases load on the power supply.

If that still doesn't work, send me the outputs of the following commands (put them on pastebin or similar, or just turn logging on in putty while running all of them, then attach the saved log file here)

Code:
show bootline
show boot-parameter
dir
i2c read 1 0 16
show ether
show save
show alt-diag
show diag
then, if you're not bored yet, reboot the switch, and hit "A" to enter memory test mode. then run "mt 1" without quotes and send those results too

Hello,

thanks for your, I try to update agin the image and the bootloader with your files, then i still loop on boot.
I also change the psu, I also try to remove the battery in the switch and remove and put again the ddr2 module, still same result : no boot.

I attached the log file of what you request.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems you have a bad ASIC most likely. The CPU, RAM, and flash all check out OK, but your box boot loops as soon as the OS loads and tries to initialize the ASIC. I would contact whoever you bought the switch from and try to return it

one last thing, you can try entering the bootloader then running the following to make it boot in debug mode and see if you get any more useful output, but I would imagine not considering how early yours fails:

Code:
dbg
boot system flash primary

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm having a similar issue with a 6610 here. Cleaned the flash and reinstalled the boot loader (grz10100)/sys image (FCXR08030u.bin). Once it starts to boot it stops here:

How long did you wait? It's normal for a healthy 6610 to pause at that stage of boot for 5 or maybe even 10 minutes. if you haven't I would boot it up and wait a while

Left it for about 20 mins and it still stuck there. I'll fire it back up this morning and leave it as long as I can. It's a strange one as I've never had an issue with these.

FInally got back around to this one and it would appear that where it pauses is right before you normally get this message in the cli:

Pre Parsing Config Data ...

Parsing Config Data ...

I'm thinking it has something to do with this:
INFO: startup config data is not available, try to read from backup
INFO: startup config data in the backup area is not available

At the moment I'm at a loss. Not sure what could be causing this other than maybe a corrupt flash so I think it may be scrap :(

Is this a bricked 6610? Can't seem to enter boot monitor. Any way to flash to firmware?

you need to disable debug mode, get into the bootloader and I think it's like "set xxx" or smething, just type set then a space then hit question mark a few times for possible options. it might just be "set debug" to toggle it back off, cant remember
