The 12/16 core parts are not officially released yet, so this is all speculation. If they are to stay within 45w TDP, they would likely need lower clocks to hit the TDP spec. Thanks @Patrick. What about the 1577?
Yea that's what really has me curious. What the clock speed and TDP will be for both. I'd be OK with a slighly higher TDP if the clock speed stays at 2.oGhz.The 12/16 core parts are not officially released yet, so this is all speculation. Most nights I have 6-8 streams going at once but I often times have a good amount of background transcoding taking place from movies and tv shows being synced to mobile clients for offline usage. While the live streams are not always transcoded (some are direct played), the background syncs will always have to be transcoded. So yea...I'm looking for more processing power without adding too much TDP since my server sits in a room temperature office and not a well cooled server room. How many streams are you doing that you need more power?
Awesome! I cannot wait. I got hands-on time in Taipei with the D-1540 based boards in October but we are still waiting on our samples.Asrock Xeon D boards delivered...Pics need to wait until evening...Need to get through day at work..
Ha! I did not know they had those on the site. I spoke to the product manager a few weeks ago so I have known about these for some time. We should have a first sample in 2-3 weeks so expect these to be after the X10SDV-4C-TLN4F and X10SDV-6C+-TLN4F reviews we will have over the next two weeks.Just noticed a couple "Coming Soon" additions on the SuperMicro site...SFP+ ports onboard LSI 2116? Yes please!

Buggers I wish they released these sooner..Ha! I did not know they had those on the site. I spoke to the product manager a few weeks ago so I have known about these for some time. Yea - I should have them in say 2-3 weeks so I am guessing retail availability will be a bit after that.Buggers I wish they released these sooner..
Man...I'm going to have to trade in my X10SDV-TLNF for a board with 2 x 10G SFP+ just to give me more switch options. Can't really do anything with the copper NICs in my server right now.Just noticed a couple "Coming Soon" additions on the SuperMicro site...SFP+ ports onboard LSI 2116? Yes please!

I hope they make some of the higher core count versions with copper NICs still all of my 10GBe stuff is inside the same rack and I can't use half of my SG500x-8f8t without copper!(plus SFP+ cables are expensive)Man...I'm going to have to trade in my X10SDV-TLNF for a board with 2 x 10G SFP+ just to give me more switch options.
