Hello everyone, Im trying to format my disk from size 528 to 512 but can't succeed. I have not formatted many of my disks before, but I cannot change the size of the disk you see in the picture. here i will write the methods i tried.

the problem i faced : illegal request type sense key apart from invalid opcode
ı have a HP Qlogic QLE2562 - 489191-001 - PCIe 8GB Dual Port FC HBA

Are you attempting this via FC? What happens if you attach it directly to a SAS controller? Its shouldn't make any difference but worth a try.

Yes, mine is an actual HBA in IT mode. LSI3008.

I believe I am aware of the requirements to do this conversion; I've done this successfully in the past, but it is not working with these Seagate/IBM SSDs.

Have you tried seachest with
--fastFormat 1 --formatUnit 512 --confirm I-understand-this-command-will-erase-all-data-on-the-drive

Hi All,
Have you had any success in this matter? I have myself also some drives locked by IBM it seems and pulled from an IBM server... frustrating that some of the features work, but it does not accept firmware update or format, but can do PSID revert with the (in my case Micron drives) PSID provided by MICRON but not all the (features) are to be resetted with it...

Are they really just a piece of paperweight? Or shall it be put back to an IBM server to be "unlocked" reverted or what could be the trick?

Oh I see, so no luck... :) I had them for 2 years now :) And sadly not even IBM was kind to let me know what is the key (if they have changed the PSID revert keys) or jumped the drive someway... so I believe they are bricks but would be so good :)

i had them and I was able to format, you can see them also has (W) MFG CTRL so i guess your thought wrong
