HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Mini - Anyone Try 64GB RAM? (2x32GB)

Hello all,

I've been searching high and low for details on first-hand experience trying to use 64GB (2x32gb) of RAM on an HP EliteDesk Mini (recently picked up a couple of the i5-7600, 65w variant), but I've not found anyone that has tried it.

The only supporting information I've been able to find on the idea is this post from STH where someone stated they were successfully running 64gb in their 800 G2 mini, on this website where they claim it to be possible as well, and just the general sentiment online that sometimes higher capacity RAM sticks work.

I'm thinking about giving it a shot if no one replies. I'm assuming that since it worked on that guys G2, it'd work on the G3 as well, but figured I'd ask if anyone's tried it to know whether it works.

To answer my own question, I've dropped a 32GB stick into one and it worked. At the moment I'm only doing 32GB in them (2x16GB in one and 1x32GB in the other) as I don't currently have a need for more than that. This at least answers the question of them working with 32GB DIMMs. I'm pretty confident they'd work with 2x32GB (given the statements in those two above links), but am not sure if/when I will be testing that myself.

Thanks for sharing the experience! I'm about to try the same thing. Have you tried making it 48GB (one 32GB with one 16GB) just to try it? Sometimes if the motherboard limits total RAM capacity, the 2nd stick might be ignored. If you can get to 48GB, then it'd be a good indicator that the board actually support 64GB.

The thought had crossed my mind, but I hadn't bothered. Prompted by your post, though, I went ahead and just swapped one over and booted it up - it does, indeed, recognize the extra 16GB.

Thanks. My Mozilla email client didn't update the IMAP folder so I missed the notification until I accidentally clicked on it now. I've bought the unit and bought two 32GB modules and confirmed it does indeed support 64GB.

64GB (using Crucial CT2K32G4SFD8266 - £160) on my 800 G3 with a i5-6500T. So glad I saw this post!!

Confirming also that 64gb works on prodesk g3 609 even though hp lists at 32gb.

was thinking of downsizing my lab too and this with 64GB was on my option list.
too bad that 2nd nic is a PITA to add on these things.

usb3 -> nic depending on needs ;-) but yeah seeing 64gb in thee tiny machines does bring a little tear in my eye
