Has anyone successfully set up OpenLDAP on an OpenIndiana/Nappit server? I want to use the CIFS that is built in to OpenIndiana, but I also need to have LDAP for user authentication.
My setup is one OI/Nappit server and 2 Proxmox servers. Initially I decided to try to get around figuring out how to set up ldap on the OI/nappit machine by installing SAMBA and OpenLDAP on a vm then using an iscsi target as the share. Unfortunately the bottleneck of running all file operations thru the vm is obvious. Plus it just feels inefficient and from what I have read the CIFS built into OI is better anyway.
Maybe the easiest is to set up the OpenLDAP client on the OI box and use a vm for OpenLDAP only?
Thanks for all input!
