Supermicro has a document (https://www.supermicro.com/support/...Greater_than_2_TB_for_SAS1_IT_IR_Products.pdf) saying that sas1 had the 2tb limit with 32bit addressing. Sas2 and newer use 64bit addressing which is a lot more than 8tb (2^64 * 512, ~9milion PetaByte per disk )
