Went for simple install of barebones no exsi etc, as wanted to get to know the basics, appears a wise choice for me..
Would like to say it was all smooth sailing...!!!
...a few lessons learned.
Appeared easier to use a CD of OI, then USB.
wanted to use dhcp instead of static IP and use the fortinet firewall to keep the IP static, but couldnt find the command line in the notes, but had seen it before.. Tried static first with OI live desktop 151a8 and I couldn't get it going, but it did on the second attempt with 151a7..
Was a few lessons learnt on the 9SCM-f, th eaffect which had noticed about being able to "see" the press del option to enter bios.. Changing video to onboard instead of off board, help a lot, will set up another post in the new builds.
Transferring files off a well used HP mediaserver , which has served us well in multiple countries. Photos were transferring at 30Mb/sec and movies at 52Mb/sec.
Hope Santa and or local derivative was good to all and 2014 is a great year for all forum members..
