MB = Supermicro X8DT6-F with built in LSI 2008 controller.

Case = Supermicro SC846 with SAS2 backplane

All is well until the server is shut down for a period of time. Then when it's started again, one or more drives will be off line. I can bring them back on line without a problem and they'll be good until the next shutdown/restart. I've googled and haven't found this particular senario.

Also, I can shut it down for a short period of time and all drives will be there when I start it back up. But when the server sits overnight, that's when they disappear.

Anybody know what might be going on?

Thanks

Care to provide more information? Are you using IR, IT, or RAID firmware on the 2008? If IR or IT, are you using software RAID? What kind?

If you're using some form of software RAID, how are the drives added? By UUID (or by-id), or by simple /dev/sd[letter] devices?

IT mode. No RAID of any kind. Not sure about the firmware.
