Thinking of turning a C6220 II into a 4 node Proxmox/Ceph SSD cluster. Will be filling the bays with HGST SSDs. I read conflicting reports about C6220 II having only 2x SATA3 ports for the onboard controller so I probably need some HBA so as not to saturate the SATA2/3 ports. In any case, if I'm plugging SAS into the bays I would still need an HBA right?
I have the mezzanine slot fitted with 2x10GbEs so I'd probably need a PCIe HBA. Is the official 9265-8i what I need or can I get away with a dumb 9210 for budget reasons?
