I recently bought a Dell N3248PXE-ON switch and it's great. Occasionally however, the PSU fans spin up with an annoyingly high pitched whine. It's still fairly quiet, but the pitch of the fans is definitely a problem. I'd like to try replacing the fans, but I'm not sure what replacement fans will work. The PSU fan is a Delta FFB0412EN in a Delta DPS-1600AP-34 PSU. They're 12V 4-pin fans, so I was wondering if I could replace them with something like the Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM fans. My temps have been stable for a week and aren't at all alarming, though there's no temperature sensor for the PSUs. Does anybody have any experience replacing fans in a PSU like this and/or have a recommended quality but less annoying fan I could try?

I installed it yesterday and it completely solved it for me too. It's quiet as can be!

As an aside, have you ever tried the v6.8.x firmware? I had to go back to v6.7 because by IPv6 ND multicast stopped working.

I didn't try it, but I'm not surprised it didn't work. I looked at the release notes for 6.8 and it says it includes all fixes up to 6.7.1.17, where the fan changes are in 6.7.1.20. I assume the next 6.8.x release will be brought up to date with 6.7.

I didn't see anything in any 6.8 changelogs that directly implicates multicast but there are quite a few changes.

I was able to make 6.8 work by disabling multicast support which isn't a huge deal but I'd rather have it enabled to reduce broadcast traffic.

In any case as you mention the fan fix is only in 6.7 but when that fix comes to 6.8 I'll hold off on upgrading for now.

I've never used mutlicast support but it's good to know that I should hold off upgrading if I ever decide to.
