Got the Supermicro X9DR3-F board up an running with a single channel 1 memory slot on CPU2 behaving poorly (POST hangs when mem slot populated). The chipset seems to be running warm when just operating with 2 E5-2670 CPUs 7 mem slots populated, ps, kb and onboard video. Very warm, but not enough to burn my skin.
Is it typical for the C606 chipset to run so warm at what is basically idle? should I consider placing a fan on the chipset?
Should I be concerned with a failed memory slot it it still meets my requirements?
