I’m trying to purchase a cheap CacheCade 2.0 license for my LSI 9286cv-8e. I want to play around with it in my home lab... According to the LSI/Broadcom documentation, the part number for the physical license key (which I THINK is the only thing I need) is L5-25188-04. However, there are a lot of places selling the L3-25188-04 or 04b, and even one place selling a supposed L5-25188-04 but the sticker on the actual key has L3-25188-04 printed on it. Any suggestions on what key to purchase?

Thanks!
Tim

You can use the physical key or software keys.

The hardware sku for the cachecade key is
25188-04 (LSI00290) – Compatible with MegaRAID SAS 9265-8i, 9266 (-4i, -8i), 9270-8i, 9271
(-4i, -8i), 9285 (-8e, CV-8e), 9286 (-8e, CV-8e), 9361 (-4i, -8i), 9380 (-8e)

Thanks! I've read the Broadcom docs, so I know the part numbers. However, it isn't clear if the L3-25188-04 and the L5-25188-04 are identical. Even worse, LSI used LSI00290 for both keys. There is a seller on Ebay with a supposed L5-25188-04, but the sticker on the device itself is L3-25188-04B. I've decided to move on from this and look at other things to play with in the lab.

I imagine they are compatible. I would think the 04B is just a newer revision.
