We’ve been hearing a lot about the future of liquid cooling in the datacenter over the last couple of years. The need for it is evident from the increasing TDPs of each new CPU and GPU generation. Even with the last gen 7773x CPUs in dense configurations, fans are pushed to their limits, frequently failing and contributing to increased drive error rates.
But this trend towards liquid cooling seems to be much slower in colos. Inquiring about facility water and liquid cooling support for an upcoming project, I got the impression that very few colo providers in North America support liquid cooling, and even the ones that do seem to be in very early experimental stages. They also have high minimum rack and power commitment requirements for liquid cooling. If you are doing liquid cooling in your colos, does this align with your experience?
