I was able to get ATI R7 250 to work in thorough for my virtual HTPC...But driver seems unstable...I have audio clipping and screen freezing...Anyone tried this with any other ATI card?

How do you use the audio?
I have the Intel audio controller passed through, when I passed through my HD 4870 I had issues installing drivers and it would freeze up every time I installed the drivers, I solved this issue by not passing through the audio device in esxi.

I think I am going to try a used K2000...
Unfortunately there is no on board audio to pass through as I am using a server board.

I don't know off hand on the 4k video I know a 600 handles 1080p no problem and the k2000 is much more powerful including listing 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz as a supported output. in regards to the 600 on esxi passthrough I doubt it would have made the list for testing it's a very small gpu(the very smallest of it's series) the best information i can find on that is here NVIDIA Cards List for VMware Horizon View 3D Acceleration | Erik Bussink

I have a MSI r9-270x passed through to my steam streamer/WMC 8.1 VM. HDMI audio works fine, and so does one of the little USB sound cards that has just headphone/microphone jacks.

I've had a similar setup for years, previously with a 7950 and before that a 5870. I think I had to use a USB sound card in the 5870 days but I don't remember why.
