I’m looking to buy a 4x Gen4 NVMe U.2 caddy system that fits into a 5.25” bay, like the Icy Dock MB699VP-B V2.

I can’t find the Icy Dock for sale anywhere, and the previous version has compatibility issues with OcuLink cables allegedly...

The drives must interface with a Supermicro Gen4 bifurcation riser with 2x SlimSAS 8i connectors.

Is there anything out there like this available to buy right now?

Will the previous version of the MB699VP-B work at Gen4 speeds connected to the SlimSAS 8i ports on my bifurcation risers?

Yes, I got one of the first available here since I had been waiting for replacement/upgrade from a V1 model for a while already

I have been unable to source the MB699VP-B V2 for a reasonable price or at all in Australia so far. Has someone had success with using the MB699VP-B at Gen 4 speeds? With or without a Re-Timer?

U.3 ssds work in u.2 backplanes and from my understanding the MB699VP-B V3 has the u.2 pin layout (supports u.2 and u.3 ssds)

there are exceptions, i have a samsung 1735 u.3 drive that specifically says u.3 only, and dosnt work with my u.2 cables or in the dock. btw its annoying that all these docks suddenly doubled in price. they where are around 200$ before. i guess they couldnt produce them fast enough for the demand.
