Yeah, it's kind of crazy. I just built my NAS a few months ago, so I've got a few TB of plots and a spare drive in case one of mine dies. Hoping to get some Chia and free Internet money. Not pleased that it ruined the MLC enterprise drive market.
From forbs.com, link, table-4, the Q1 of 2020 the 3 major HDD vendors shipped 278EB. So estimating around 1 ZB last year was correct. Large companies won't be worry about the 1.6EB volume on Chia now. Of course the consumers can be worry. But some in China with some relationships with the retail channels already felt the roller coaster of HDD prices.
